Behavior Guidelines

EcoCloud™ serves the sustainability community by providing a respectful venue for communication and collaboration. The site should improve communications, foster involvement, and help further sustainability goals in Silicon Valley. The tone of discussion is intended to be professional and helpful. EcoCloud™ provides a venue for sharing news, providing thought leadership, collaborating on projects, and sending inquiries to other members of the community.

The members of EcoCloud™ are our greatest asset and must be treated with respect. Site members should work together to maintain a high level of value and ensure that participation is rewarding and satisfying for all members. Toward that end, EcoCloud™ members are encouraged to use the following guidelines:

  • Members should follow good etiquette. The Core Rules of Netiquette from the Netiquette site is a good place to learn about generally accepted standards of behavior on the Internet.
  • Members should take one-on-one discussions to a more private venue. If you have a topic that is of interest to just a few list members, please create a new Group on the site or convene a working group outside the site. You may wish to post a message to the site to say that you are taking a discussion offline and if members want to participate they should email you. List members engaged in a private discussion may want to post a summary back to the list, once the discussion is complete.
  • The EcoCloud™ site is not a forum for debate or political discourse. The primary focus should be the topics relevant to sustainability in Silicon Valley.
  • Personal attacks are unacceptable. Be as courteous online as you would be in person.
  • Fill out your member profile with your real name and email address.
  • Never distribute or sell other members' email addresses or other profile information.
  • Do not post articles, blog posts, forum messages, or any other content from the site elsewhere without permission of the author.

EcoCloud™ members who disregard these guidelines will be warned, have their content removed, or be temporarily or permanently removed from the site by the site moderators.

The EcoCloud™ site is run by members of Sustainable Silicon Valley. If you have questions about site policies or are not sure if a post is appropriate, feel free to contact the EcoCloud™ Editor for guidance at ecocloudcontent@sustainablesv.org.
